Technology Consultant and School Psychologist, 1998 - PRESENT
Washburn, Wl
Sole proprietor of a web design and computer networking business in Florida and Wisconsin. Specialize in developing web sites based upon Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. Maintain clientele of over one hundred small businesses, local governments, and individuals in the communities of Bayfield, Washburn, Ashland, Hurley and Ironwood. Own and operate FlashWeave Web Design/Bayfield Computers for seven years in the Chequamegon Bay area of Lake Superior.
School psychologist, providing psychological services to local education agencies. In 2000 - 2001, Cooperative Educational Services Agency 12 contracted with me to develop training materials and present workshops on the new peer mentoring initiatives . Wrote successful Wisconsin Peer Review and Mentoring Grant to fund this project. Recently worked for CESA 12 in Ashland and the Hurley School District in providing needed school psychological services.

Consulted with K-12 education staff and administration on bringing technology into the classroom to make it an effective force for learning and change. Conducted Biofeedback Project for ADHD children. Utilized EEG and Biofeedback to help children focus without use of medications. Provided Assistive Technology to students based on IEP goals and objectives. Focused on data about the student, his or her environment, and tasks. Addressed Section 504 and 508 mandates to determine impact of disability on major life activities, and to provide unfettered accessibilty to the information superhighway. Special education team representative for AGWSR School District and West Marshall Community School District. Met weekly with elementary school principal to problem solve and monitor performance of students having IEP's and academic and behavioral concerns.
Utilized Response to Intervention and progress monitoring to provide individual education services to children. Served on Early Childhood Education team, specializing in behavioral and educational consultation. In a team environment, assessed developmental skills, planned and implemented programs of remediation. Trained by Toni Linder in Transdisciplinary Play Based Assessment - gained understanding of the whole child through team evaluation which integrally included the family. Traveled throughout AEA 6 area to EC:EEN programs, preschool programs, and homes to work with children, teachers, and families in maximizing success of preschool children in their educational setting and daily lives. Attended two day-long workshops presented by Dr. Louis Rossetti, infant-toddler expert and coordinator of the Communicative Disorders Program at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Taught me to broaden my focus beyond discipline-specific boundaries to achieve a more holistic approach in serving infants and toddlers side-by-side with their families and caregivers.

Sheboygan Falls School District, Wisconsin
Worked with families and school staff in creating an effective educational program to enhance the success of students. Created effective home and school-based mental health program and provided family therapy in a confidential evening setting to families who requested services. Taught graduate level course through UW-Milwaukee in training staff in portfolio development through use of technology and peer mentoring to enhance ability to reach more students and increase feelings of satisfaction about teaching.

Developed and implemented a comprehensive program of school psychological services and multidisciplinary team leadership to three school systems in Wisconsin. Integrated theory, research and practice; provided a continuum of mental health services; outcomes data; facilitated a team-based approach to mental health programming. Assisted county-wide Family Support Advisory Council to empower families in need. Worked closely with the Wisconsin Department of Vocational Rehabilitation in preparing students for life after school.

National Park Service - 2004 - 2005
Trained National Park Service personnel in developing accessible web sites in accordance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. Focused on making web sites accessible for everyone, including visually handicapped utilizing screen readers.

Conducted weeklong workshop for twenty teachers on mentoring - offered for graduate credit through UW-Superior.

Trained several hundred K-12 teachers throughout Wisconsin in WI DPI Strategies program of peer coaching and best practices in cooperative education in the classroom. Taught courses at the graduate level as adjunct faculty at University of Wisconsin - Superior.
